Amazon's Stick-on-Button to help you reorder the Basics

Amazon May Have Just Transformed
How Consumers Order Products

Amazon on Tuesday announced a new device called the dash button, which will let you simply press a physical button in your home to immediately order products such as detergent, toilet paper and coffee pods. Customers can get individual buttons for different brands such as Tide or Huggies and place the buttons in logical places like next to the washing machine or the changing station. That way the second you realize you're running low on diapers you can immediately place a new order.

Why am I so Stoked about  Intel and Micron's

This recent announcement:

Intel / Micron Announce 3D NAND Production

of 10TB storage on a standard 2.5" SSD

Intel and Micron are jointly announcing new 3D NAND technology that will radically increase solid-storage capacity going forward. The companies have indicated that moving to this technology will allow for the type of rapid increases in capacity that are consistent with Moore’s Law.

MC2 Post 2005 Back to the NCAA and the Sweet 16

Ranking the Sweet 16 Teams of the 2015 NCAA Tournament

While deep NCAA tournament runs are often driven off great guard play, this year's Sweet 16 will feature big men as difference-makers.

In its first two weeks, ticket sales in North America

were $122 million.

Women made up 66 percent of the opening-weekend audience.

LOS ANGELES — Heading into the all-important summer moviegoing season, two converging box-office trends are startling studios: Women are driving ticket sales to a degree rarely, if ever, seen before, while young men — long Hollywood’s most coveted audience — are relatively AWOL.

With the release of “The Divergent Series: Insurgent” over the weekend, women have delivered the three biggest live-action openings of the year. The audience for “Insurgent,” which took in an estimated $54 million from Friday to Sunday, was 60 percent female. The opening-weekend crowd for “Fifty Shades of Grey” was 67 percent female, and women made up 66 percent of the audience for “Cinderella.”

the Lady Knights of  Minnesota.

From:  http://www.cbsnews.com

CLIMAX, Minn. -- Since 2011, the Climax-Fisher High School Lady Knights have been booting and bobbling their way into the record books. This team from western Minnesota somehow strung together 84 straight losses - that's four straight years of ridicule.

"People always make fun of you," said Michaela Burstad.

"It's honestly embarrassing to lose that many games," added Emily Love.

But the team's coach, Jonathan Vonesh, told me he's

impressed by his players.

MC2 Post 2004 A New Page in Sports has been Turnered -- NCAA Live app

Sports Fans will get a Taste of  What a  Clever  App can do to Transform How we watch 'sports'  and TV in general.

How to Watch March Madness Online, With or Without a Cable Login

From:  http://www.slate.com

===================================
===================================

===================================
===================================

The 22 games that will be broadcast on CBS will be streamed live for free to everyone online. You can watch them all on the Web at:

===================================
===================================

The Sling TV Legal Option:

This year, however, cord-cutters have at least one other legal option. Sling TV, the new online-TV service aimed at cord-cutters, happens to include both TNT and TBS in its basic package, which costs $20 a month. And TruTV is now available as part of Sling TV’s “Lifestyle Extra” add-on pack, which goes for an additional $5 a month. It doesn’t include CBS, but you can still watch CBS games without a cable login on the March Madness site. I’ve written more about Sling TV here.

What’s convenient about Sling TV is that, unlike cable, you can sign up at a moment’s notice and cancel anytime. In fact, as Gigaom (R.I.P.) pointed out, the service offers a free seven-day trial that could be mighty convenient for NCAA tournament watching if deployed strategically.

===================================
Last year, March Madness online viewership reached a new record, with 69.7 million live streams across all platforms, Turner Sports told me. That was up 42 percent from 2013.

MC2 Post 2003 So What Is Wrong with Android Lollipop Anyway ???

After 3 months, and a fresh update released
just 2 days ago, apparently nobody knows...

From:  http://www.greenbot.com

Android 5.1 fixed a lot of issues, but apparently a persistent memory leak was not one of them.

---------------------------
This is not the way you compete in a world dominated by Apple...And having a broken sucker as the logo of it's latest release does not help things in the least.

            Wingman.
---------------------------

A rather lengthy issue tracker on the Android Open Source Project indicates that many Nexus 5 owners are still seeing significant memory resources draining, an issue that first popped up with Android 5.0 and has persisted since.

There is some hope, as a post from someone on the Android development team says the problem has “been fixed internally,” though there isn’t a timeline for when it will be released to the public.

MC2 Post 2002 the Week Meerkat overshadows Twitter And even SXSW

Your app went viral at SXSW. Good luck with that

That brings us to this this week, where I’m entrenched in the mecca of viral hits and social media noise: South by Southwest. For the first time in three years,there’s actually a breakout hit. Meerkat, a livestreaming social media app, has exploded thanks to a heavy reliance on integration with Twitter (and a striking similarity, in functionality and logo, to Snapchat). Since launching in late February, the Meerkat has climbed into the top 100 social networking apps in the U.S. The app is perfectly suited to a festival like SXSW: it’s social, it’s live, it’s fun, and it’s frivolous. It is the topic of conversation at parties. The stakes could not be higher.

 In Real Estate

Apple Gets Sweet Deals From Mall Operators

As a traffic magnet, iPhone maker is able to negotiate lower terms for rent

Apple Inc.’s huge gravitational pull on mall traffic is distorting the market for mall rents, winning the iPhone maker sweetheart deals and putting upward pressure on other tenants’ leases.

Apple draws so many shoppers that its stores single-handedly lift sales by 10% at the malls in which they operate, according to Green Street Advisors, a real-estate research firm. That gives Apple the clout to negotiate extremely low rents for itself relative to its sales, while creating upward pressure on prices paid by mall neighbors who might not benefit from the traffic.

What About That Funny New  Connector on the new MacBook?

USB-C is our new connection overlord. Get used to it.

Google's Chrome Pixel Has TWO.

Google unveils a more powerful

Chromebook Pixel for $999

From:   http://thenextweb.com

Google is launching a quicker, cheaper Chromebook for $999. It features a similar all-metal design to the previous iteration, but this time comes with a Core i5 processor, 8GB of RAM, and a (still tiny) 32GB SSD.

There’s also a more advanced “LS” (for – wait for it – ‘ludicrous speed’) model available with a Core i7 chip, 16GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. That model comes in at $1300.

The screen, meanwhile, remains largely unchanged from last year. Not that that’s a bad thing: it’s a 2560 x 1700 display with

a rare 3:2 aspect ratio, and is still touch-sensitive.

The laptop features USB-C connectivity, which like on the new MacBook, takes care of charging, data and video functions (more on what USB-C can do here). Google does the unthinkable, however, and includes two ports.

MC2 Post 1999 Has Samsung Really Gone Over the EDGE

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge hands-on

From:  http://www.phonearena.com

Edgy is a spot-on word that can describe Samsung’s intentions at the moment. Quite literally, the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge showed to us that the Korean company can be quite unconventional – going outside the norm to spur attention and interest. Well, they’re doing exactly the same thing during Mobile World Congress 2015, as the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge is an alternative option to Sammy's flagship model in the traditional Galaxy S6.

New Video Demos Ubuntu Convergence on Tablet,

and Later Phones

Today, ahead of Mobile World Congress next month, Ubuntu Desktop Manager Will Cooke has posted a three-minute video that shows how Canonical’s engineering team is progressing.

‘We’re now seeing the company’s plans for a seamless experience — in real working code’

Although short, we’re now seeing the company’s plans for a seamless experience across devices in real, working, usable code.

For enthusiasts, early adopters and users Cooke cautions that the code shown here – i.e., to enable the convergence features – will only land in the Mir and Unity codebase once the quality is considered up to par.

Buggy or not it is impressive. In one instance Cooke takes an Intel-based tablet running the Unity 8 version of Ubuntu in tablet mode and pairs a mouse. The UI then ‘transforms’ into a more traditional pointer-led windowed mode.

MC2 Post 1998 Everyone Needs a Little Shield, these days

Shield: NVIDIA's $200 gaming-focused Android TV set-top box

Another year, another new Shield device from NVIDIA. What's Shield? It's the hardware line from NVIDIA that spans a bizarre handheld game console, a powerful gaming tablet, and now a $200, Android TV-powered set-top box. NVIDIA CEO Jen-Hsun Huang unveiled the Android TV-powered set-top box this evening during a GDC 2015 press conference, which the company referred to as a combination "revolutionary TV", "gaming console" and "supercomputer." Head below for all the specs as we learn them live from NVIDIA.

NVIDIA's calling Shield the "world's first 4K Android TV" -- it's able to both stream and locally run 4K content to your fawncy 4K television. How does it do that? It uses a bleeding edge X1 chip -- the most powerful mobile processor NVIDIA's made to date.
