Will the Big apple-red Elephant Snubbing the MWC Kill it Like COMDEX

The Biggest no-show at MWC this week is the platform leading Apple.  It will hold It's Own Show next Week, where the next Must Have Apple Watch will be announced.

Many years ago, Apple stopped going to these industry focus shows and put it's money into private showcase Events.  A few like minded companies, like Windows, saw  that financially, that was a Great Idea.  And they too dropped out of these smorgasbord events.

The comdex styled events were usually run in Southern California and brought in a Lot of Money.  These gaudy and profitable shows started losing because the biggies decided to play in a  more controlled environment.  Thus these many events have dwindled to a very few and move to Vegas to have the hotels compete for these still profitable yearly tech shows.  But the numbers keep going down, and it's not just because of the convention flu.  Something else, much more troubling is impacting an once profitable venue.  And like newspapers, magazines and TV (in it's current form), are also on the the way out.

Some of the majors, like Samsung now put on their own Events with varying degrees of success.

And others like NXNW in Texas and ComicCon in  San Diego may doing ok.  But they too seem to be on a downward slide to oblivion.

The Apple Watch Might Actually Cost a Fortune

Apple hasn’t yet announced a price for the mid-range Apple Watch (called simply “Apple Watch”), which is stainless steel and features a sapphire crystal screen, but Piper Jaffray estimates it could start around $499 to $549 and go up to $650, again depending on customizable features.
